At level crossing 77 located on Banedanmarks line 28 between Tinglev and Soenderborg, located at Kaadnervej in AAbenraa, train 959 collided with a van with a trailer attached, which was loaded with a mini loader.
Level crossing 77 was an open level crossing, fitted with road signals with flashing red lights and bells, but no barriers.
At the time of the accident, the two bells, belonging to the warning system at level crossing 77, were not at their intended position.
The investigation into the accident has been completed, and the report is expected to be published for consultation in July 2026.
