AIB task

The Danish Accident Investigation Board (AIB) is an independent safety investigation authority investigating accidents or incidents involving civilian aircraft or railway operations.

Our purpose

The fundamental purpose of the AIB is to investigate accidents or incidents involving civilian aircraft or railway operations in order to prevent reoccurrences.

A safety investigation means a process conducted by a safety investigation authority for the purpose of accident and incident prevention, which includes the gathering and analysis of information, the drawing of conclusions, including the determination of cause(s) and/or contributing factors and, when appropriate, the making of safety recommendations.

By determining circumstances and causes and making recommendations, the AIB contributes to an increased safety.

The purpose of safety investigations is not to apportion blame or liability.
